Pakistan and US Discuss Counter-Terrorism Cooperation in High-Level Islamabad Meeting

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Paul Kapur in Islamabad on Friday, focusing on bilateral relations, regional security, and counter-terrorism cooperation.

According to Beyond Time News, the meeting was also attended by US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, and senior officials from Pakistan’s Interior Ministry.

Security and Counter-Terrorism Cooperation Discussed

Both sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in key areas including counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics, and regional stability.

According to Beyond Time News, discussions also covered the evolving security situation in the Middle East and its broader impact on regional peace.

Officials stressed the importance of continued coordination between Pakistan and the United States on security-related matters.

Pakistan Highlights Strengthening Ties

Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan and the United States maintain relations based on mutual trust and cooperation.

According to Beyond Time News, he noted that bilateral relations improved further during the tenure of U.S. President Donald Trump.

He also assured the US delegation that comprehensive security arrangements are in place for American companies working on major projects, including the Reko Diq initiative.
