Pakistan to Host Women’s Tennis Team Event

According to Beyond Time News, Pakistan is set to host an international women’s tennis team event later this year, marking a major milestone for the country’s sports scene.

The announcement was made by Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi during a press conference in Islamabad. He said the event reflects Pakistan’s growing role in promoting sports and building a positive global image.

Major Step for Women’s Tennis in Pakistan

Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi confirmed that the International Tennis Federation has granted Pakistan the hosting rights for a women’s team event scheduled for October.

Players from around 10 countries are expected to participate, making it one of the most significant tennis events hosted in Pakistan.

Officials say this is the first time Pakistan will host an international women’s team competition, highlighting progress in the sport.

Tennis Helping Improve Pakistan’s Global Image

Qureshi emphasized that tennis is playing a key role in projecting a soft and positive image of Pakistan worldwide.

He said foreign players who visit Pakistan often leave with good experiences, helping strengthen the country’s reputation as a peaceful and welcoming destination.

He added that Pakistani players are also acting as ambassadors of peace through their performances on international platforms.

Strong Performances by National Players

Pakistan’s tennis players have shown strong progress in recent competitions.

Qureshi highlighted recent success at ITF Futures events, where Pakistani players won both singles and doubles titles.

He specifically praised Muhammad Shoaib for his outstanding performance and contribution to Pakistan’s tennis growth.

Focus on Training and Development

To further improve performance, the federation plans to send players abroad for training.

Muhammad Shoaib will travel to the United States, while Muzammil Murtaza will train in South Africa.

Qureshi also revealed that nine Pakistani players have now earned ATP rankings, which reflects the sport’s steady development in the country.

Future Plans and International Engagement

Qureshi also mentioned that former tennis legend Bjorn Borg’s visit to Pakistan has been postponed but is expected to take place soon.

PTF officials believe hosting international events will help boost tennis infrastructure, attract global attention, and encourage young players to pursue the sport.
