ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has warned that Pakistan will respond more strongly to any future miscalculation or military adventurism, stressing that the country’s restraint in past tensions should not be mistaken for weakness.
According to Beyond Time News, the remarks were made in a televised message marking Marka-i-Haq, the term used by the state for last year’s military standoff between Pakistan and India.
“Line Has Been Drawn Forever”
Khawaja Asif said the events of last year marked a clear turning point in Pakistan’s defence posture.
He described Marka-i-Haq as more than a historic episode, calling it a “line that has been drawn forever.”
He added that Pakistan showed restraint during the 2025 escalation, but any future miscalculation would trigger a “more intense and decisive” response.
Warning Against Miscalculation
The defence minister cautioned that any incorrect assessment by adversaries would not be taken lightly.
He said Pakistan does not seek conflict but will not hesitate to respond if challenged.
According to him, “Any adventurism against Pakistan will not remain limited to the initial action; we will determine its course and consequences.”
Reference to 2025 Military Standoff
Marka-i-Haq refers to last year’s escalation between Pakistan and India, which followed heightened tensions and cross-border developments before a ceasefire was reached on May 10.
The government has framed the episode as a defining moment in Pakistan’s military response strategy.
Confidence in Defence Capabilities
Asif said Pakistan’s defence capability has significantly improved across all domains.
He stated that the country’s response in air, land, and maritime operations is now faster and more effective than before.

“No One Can Pressure Pakistan”
The minister further said the events of Marka-i-Haq had ended any perception that Pakistan could be pressured or isolated.
He reiterated that Pakistan’s armed forces remain fully prepared to defend national sovereignty under any circumstances.
Conclusion
The statement reflects Pakistan’s continued emphasis on deterrence and military readiness while maintaining that it does not seek escalation. Officials say the country’s defence posture is now based on rapid and decisive response capability.
