Peshawar: FIA Arrests 14 Afghan Nationals in Crackdown on Fake Travel Documents

Suspects Allegedly Planned to Travel to Saudi Arabia

PESHAWAR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) raided a hostel in the Tajabad area of Peshawar and arrested 14 Afghan nationals on Saturday for allegedly using forged Pakistani documents to travel abroad.

According to officials, the suspects were reportedly preparing to travel to Saudi Arabia when FIA teams carried out the operation.

Agents Charged Millions for Fake Documents

Investigators revealed that the accused had paid between Rs25 million and Rs28 million to agents in exchange for counterfeit national identity cards. Authorities believe an organized international network facilitated the preparation of fake documents for overseas travel.

During the raid, FIA officials recovered several forged Pakistani passports and other suspicious documents from the suspects.

Investigation Expands to Identify Facilitators

The agency has broadened its investigation to uncover everyone involved in the network. Officials are also examining the possible role of personnel linked to NADRA and passport offices.

Authorities said they are tracing the individuals who arranged the fake documentation and helped process the travel plans.

Similar Network Busted Previously

A similar case surfaced in 2024 when FIA officials arrested 34 Afghan nationals who allegedly attempted to travel abroad using fake Pakistani passports.

Investigators reported that the suspects had entered Pakistan through the Chaman border and later obtained forged identity cards and passports through agents operating illegally.

FIA Continues Action Against Document Fraud

The FIA has intensified its efforts against networks involved in document forgery and illegal immigration. Officials said the agency will continue targeting individuals and groups that produce fake identity documents or facilitate unlawful travel arrangements.

Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling such networks and bringing all those involved to justice.
