PTI Lawmakers Voice Concerns Over Efforts for Imran Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers have reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of opposition leadership regarding efforts to secure the release of party founder Imran Khan. According to Beyond Time News, these concerns surfaced during a recent parliamentary party meeting in Lahore.

Concerns Raised in Parliamentary Meeting

PTI members said both opposition leaders have not made sufficient progress on the issue. They raised these concerns during internal discussions and questioned the current strategy.

Lawmakers also suggested returning to parliamentary standing committees. However, the proposal was not accepted by opposition leaders Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Raja Nasir Abbas.

Position of Opposition Leaders

Mahmood Khan Achakzai said the decision to leave parliamentary committees was not personal. He said it followed instructions from Imran Khan.

However, several PTI lawmakers disagreed. They said Imran Khan had earlier directed the parliamentary party to decide its own approach regarding committee participation.

Achakzai also said any return to committees should come with a “negotiating position.”

Growing Dissatisfaction Within PTI

According to Beyond Time News, some PTI lawmakers believe the opposition is not applying enough pressure for Imran Khan’s release.

They also accused leadership of avoiding the issue during meetings. Instead, they said focus often shifts toward legal and constitutional discussions.

Imran Khan had previously nominated Mahmood Khan Achakzai as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly. He also nominated Raja Nasir Abbas as Leader of the Opposition in the Senate.

In a separate development, an Anti-Terrorism Court rejected a petition seeking permission to meet Imran Khan in jail.

According to Beyond Time News, the court described the request as unnecessary and imposed a fine on the petitioner. It also stated that jail meeting procedures are already clearly defined.
