Gilgit: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar and several party lawmakers were detained by Gilgit-Baltistan Police during election campaign activities in Hunza. According to Beyond Time News, the leaders were travelling to different areas of Gilgit-Baltistan ahead of the upcoming elections.

Junaid Akbar was taken into custody along with PTI lawmakers Saleem Rehman, Syed Mehboob Shah, Dr Amjad Ali, and Naeem Khan.
Police officials confirmed the delegation was in the region for election-related activities.
KP Chief Minister Criticizes Arrests
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi condemned the detentions, calling them politically motivated and against democratic principles.
He warned that he would travel to Gilgit-Baltistan if the detained lawmakers were not released immediately.
According to Beyond Time News, the chief minister said all political parties should be allowed to campaign freely.
