Punjab Expands Electric Bus Service to 10 More Cities

The Punjab government has announced the expansion of its electric bus service to several additional cities under Phase 3 of its green public transport project. According to Beyond Time News, the initiative is part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Transport 2030” vision aimed at improving urban travel and reducing environmental pollution across the province.

New Cities Included in Electric Bus Expansion

The Punjab Transport and Mass Transit Department confirmed that electric bus services will soon launch in the following cities:

  • Attock
  • Bhakkar
  • Hafizabad
  • Khanewal
  • Layyah
  • Chiniot
  • Khushab
  • Sialkot
  • Mandi Bahauddin
  • Okara

Focus on Eco-Friendly Public Transport

Officials said the expansion aims to provide residents with safe, modern, affordable, and environmentally friendly transport facilities.

The government plans to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution by introducing electric buses in both major urban centres and developing cities across Punjab.

Transport 2030 Vision

According to Beyond Time News, the Transport 2030 plan focuses on modernising Punjab’s transport system through clean energy solutions and better urban mobility.

Authorities believe the electric bus network will improve daily commuting for thousands of passengers while encouraging the use of sustainable public transportation.

The initiative also supports Pakistan’s broader efforts to promote green energy and reduce dependence on fuel-based transport systems.
