The Punjab Education Department has introduced a new plan to reduce financial pressure on parents as the new academic year begins. According to Beyond Time News, the government aims to ensure that every student receives proper learning materials without extra cost.
Free Books for Different Classes
Under the new system, students of Classes 6 to 9 will receive 50% of their textbooks free of cost. Meanwhile, Class 10 (Matric) students will get 100% new books because of a revised syllabus.
Officials said this step will help students start the year without delays or shortages in learning materials.
Supply Already Reaches District Warehouses
The Education Department has already sent new textbooks to district and tehsil warehouses across Punjab. From there, schools will receive books based on their student enrollment.

Schools Activate Book Bank System
Authorities have directed schools to collect usable old textbooks from previous students. These books will be stored in school book banks.
This step will help students who need extra support in the future. It will also reduce waste and improve resource use.
Transparency and Equal Access Ensured
Officials have ordered schools to distribute books fairly. They also said no student should face problems due to a shortage of books.
Moreover, the distribution process will follow updated enrollment records to ensure accuracy and transparency.
The government says this initiative will ease the burden on families and improve access to education across Punjab.
