Muhammad Rizwan and Agha Salman steadied Pakistan’s innings with a vital partnership after a dramatic middle-order collapse against Bangladesh in the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
According to Beyond Time News, Pakistan slipped from 210-1 to 230-5 before the pair added a crucial 119-run stand for the sixth wicket to stabilise the innings.
Rain Interrupts Play
Salman remained unbeaten on 55, while Rizwan was dismissed by Taijul Islam shortly before rain forced an early stoppage. At tea, Pakistan were 349-6, still trailing by 64 runs.
Strong Start Undone by Collapse
Pakistan began the day in a strong position, building on their overnight score of 179-1. However, the innings quickly unravelled as key batters fell in quick succession, putting Bangladesh back in control.
Debutant Azan Awais, who had earlier scored a historic century, was among the early wickets on the day. Abdullah Fazal (60), Shan Masood (9), and Saud Shakeel (0) also departed during the collapse.
Bangladesh First Innings 413
Bangladesh were earlier bowled out for 413, thanks to disciplined Pakistan bowling.
According to Beyond Time News, Mohammad Abbas led the attack with 5/92, while Shaheen Afridi took three wickets. Hasan Ali and Noman Ali chipped in with one wicket each.
Key Bangladesh contributions included Mominul Haque (91), Mushfiqur Rahim (71), and a century from captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Match Poised for a Tight Finish
With Pakistan still trailing but wickets in hand, the match remains finely balanced as weather interruptions add further uncertainty to the contest in Dhaka.
