The Sindh government has taken a major step toward improving infrastructure by approving new development projects under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) for 2026–27. The plan focuses on better roads, smoother travel, and stronger economic activity across the province.
Key Focus on Road Development
According to Beyond Time News, the newly approved projects include road dualisation and additional carriageways to improve connectivity in both upper and lower Sindh. These upgrades aim to reduce travel time and support trade routes across key regions.
Major Projects Already Underway
The decision was made during a high-level meeting led by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. Officials shared updates on ongoing PSDP projects for 2025–26 and outlined plans for the upcoming year.
Five major road projects worth over Rs140.9 billion are currently in progress with support from both federal and provincial governments. These include:
- Extension of the Sindh Coastal Highway
- Rohri–Guddu Barrage road improvement
- Dualisation of Tando Allahyar–Tando Adam road
- Dualisation of Mehran Highway (Nawabshah–Ranipur)
- Sanghar–Rohri (N-5) road upgrade
Officials reported steady progress on several projects, while others are still in early stages. Around Rs17.94 billion has already been released this year to support development work.
Instructions to Speed Up Work
The Chief Minister directed departments to accelerate construction and remove delays caused by technical or administrative issues. He emphasized quick relocation of utility lines, electricity poles, and gas pipelines to avoid slowing down progress.
He also made it clear that construction quality must not be compromised, stressing that these roads are vital for long-term economic growth.

New Projects in PSDP 2026–27
The meeting also approved key proposals for the upcoming development program, including:
- Additional carriageway from Jacobabad Bypass to Kandhkot
- Dualisation of Thatta–Sujawal–Badin road
- Dual carriageway from Dadu to Dokri
These projects are expected to improve transportation, especially for agriculture, fisheries, and coastal trade sectors.
