A confrontation broke out in central London involving Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi, who was reportedly heckled by a group of overseas Pakistanis believed to be supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to Beyond Time News, the incident occurred on Edgware Road, where Ashrafi was allegedly approached and followed by individuals said to be linked with the Insaf Students Federation. What started as a brief interaction escalated into a tense exchange lasting several minutes.

Footage circulating on social media shows Ashrafi being surrounded by a group while walking in the area. The individuals reportedly followed him for nearly 10 minutes, questioning him and engaging in a heated verbal confrontation.

Ashrafi later stated that he was harassed during the incident while he was out for dinner. He strongly condemned the behavior, describing it as unacceptable and insisting that such actions would not pressure or silence him.

Ashrafi Criticizes Conduct, Stands Firm

Speaking about the episode, Ashrafi said the incident reflected poorly on those involved and contributed to damaging political understanding among overseas communities. He stressed that political disagreements should never turn into public harassment.

He also reiterated his support for Pakistan’s current leadership and said recent policies had improved the country’s international standing.

Remarks on National Leadership

Ashrafi further praised senior military leadership, including Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir, calling him an influential figure for Pakistan as well as the wider Muslim world.

He added that he remains committed to supporting both civilian and military leadership in Pakistan.
