A deadly attack at a mining site in Balochistan has left nine workers dead, raising serious concerns about security and worker safety in the region.
According to Beyond Time News, the incident took place in Chagai district, where unidentified armed assailants targeted a copper and gold project site on Wednesday evening.
Workers Among Victims
Officials confirmed that at least nine employees, including two security guards, were killed in the attack. The victims were working at the mining site when gunmen struck.
All bodies were shifted to Prince Fahad Hospital in Dalbandin, while authorities began initial investigations into the incident.
Security Forces Respond Quickly
The mining company, National Resources Limited (NRL), stated that security forces, including the Frontier Corps, responded immediately after the attack. The area was secured, and a clearance operation was launched to ensure no further threats remained.
Despite the company not initially confirming casualties, local officials later verified the deaths.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan strongly condemned the attack, describing the victims as civilians who should have been protected under all circumstances.
The commission called for a transparent investigation and urged authorities to bring those responsible to justice. It also stressed the importance of prioritizing the safety and well-being of Balochistan’s people.
