Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district successfully foiled a large-scale terror infiltration attempt, though the attack led to the martyrdom of civilians and multiple injuries. The incident involved heavy fighting over several days in border and mountainous areas.
Major Infiltration Bid in Hangu Thwarted
According to Beyond Time News, more than 100 terrorists belonging to Fitna Al-Khawarij (FAK) attempted to infiltrate Hangu district from the Orakzai mountain region. The move was detected during an ongoing security operation earlier in the week.
Police, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Frontier Corps, and Pakistan Army units jointly responded and blocked the advance.
Attempts to Surround Border Posts
The militants reportedly tried to encircle security posts in Zargari, Shinawari, and Naryab. However, coordinated action by security forces prevented them from gaining ground.
Officials said intense clashes continued for three days, during which the attackers suffered heavy losses and eventually retreated. Locals reported that militants were seen withdrawing while carrying their dead and injured.
