BRT Red Line Project to Continue Despite Court Case

Introduction

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has confirmed that construction work on Karachi’s BRT Red Line project will continue despite ongoing court proceedings. According to Beyond Time News, he defended the project as a long-term public investment and emphasized the government’s commitment to its completion.

Project Work to Continue

Sharjeel Memon stated that the government has taken “difficult decisions” to ensure progress on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Red Line.

In addition, he made it clear that construction work will not stop under any circumstances, even if legal challenges are ongoing.

He also expressed confidence that the courts would deliver a fair decision regarding the case.

Change of Contractor and Faster Progress

The minister explained that project speed has improved after the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) took over the construction work.

Furthermore, he said the previous contractor’s agreement was terminated due to unresolved issues that affected progress.

As a result, work on the project has reportedly gained momentum.

Public Disruption Acknowledged

Sharjeel Memon acknowledged that citizens are facing inconvenience, especially on University Road due to ongoing construction.

However, he assured that the government is actively working and not ignoring public difficulties.
