Historic Al-Sayl Al-Kabeer Miqat Welcomes Hajj Pilgrims

ISLAMABAD: The historic Al-Sayl Al-Kabeer route has once again opened its doors to thousands of Hajj pilgrims travelling toward Makkah for the 1447 AH Hajj season. The site is one of the five designated miqats in Islam, where pilgrims enter the state of Ihram.

According to SPA, Al-Sayl Al-Kabeer, also known historically as Qarn Al-Manazil, holds deep religious significance. It serves pilgrims coming from Najd and the eastern regions of the Arabian Peninsula.

Key Route for Pilgrims

The route stretches from Taif toward Makkah. It passes through the mountainous areas of Al-Hada and Al-Shafa. After that, it descends into valleys leading to Al-Sayl Al-Kabeer, located northeast of Makkah.

Over time, this route became one of the most important land passages for eastern pilgrims. Its popularity comes from both its accessibility and its religious importance.

Upgraded Facilities for Hajj and Umrah

In recent years, authorities have upgraded the route to improve travel conditions. The Roads General Authority carried out major development work to enhance infrastructure and pilgrim services.

As a result, the route now offers smoother travel and better facilities for visitors.

Mosque Services for Pilgrims

The Miqat Al-Sayl Al-Kabeer Mosque is located along the highway. It welcomes thousands of pilgrims who stop to enter Ihram.

The mosque provides essential services, including ablution areas, drinking water, and bus parking. These facilities help ensure comfort and ease for pilgrims on their spiritual journey to Makkah.
