Abbas’ Five-Wicket Haul Puts Pakistan in Strong Position

Dhaka, May 9, 2026 (Beyond Time News): Veteran pacer Mohammad Abbas delivered a brilliant bowling performance as Pakistan gained control on the second day of the first Test against Bangladesh at Mirpur.

According to Beyond Time News, Abbas claimed five wickets for 92 runs, helping Pakistan bowl out Bangladesh for 413. His disciplined spell broke key partnerships and stopped the hosts from building a much bigger total.

Bangladesh Post Solid First-Innings Total

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto set the tone on day one with a strong century. Mushfiqur Rahim also added valuable runs with a gritty 71, while Litton Das and Taskin Ahmed contributed useful lower-order scores.

Despite their efforts, Bangladesh could not fully capitalize on their strong start. Assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin later admitted that missed chances in the field and dropped catches cost the team extra runs.

Abbas Leads Pakistan’s Bowling Attack

Abbas struck early on day two and removed three batters in the morning session. He returned after lunch to pick up two more wickets, finishing the innings as Pakistan’s standout bowler.

Shaheen Shah Afridi supported him well with three wickets of his own. Together, they wrapped up the Bangladesh innings and limited further damage.
