Bangladesh continued to build a strong first-innings total against Pakistan on Day 2 of the first Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday.
According to Beyond Time News, Bangladesh reached 380-7 at lunch after experienced batter Mushfiqur Rahim produced another calm and valuable innings. He remained unbeaten on 71 and guided the hosts through a difficult morning session.
Mohammad Abbas Picks Up Three Wickets
Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Abbas delivered an impressive spell and claimed all three wickets that fell before lunch.
Bangladesh resumed the day at 301-4 but lost Litton Das early in the session for 33. Abbas then dismissed Mehidy Hasan Miraz for 10 to put more pressure on the batting side.
Just before lunch, Abbas struck again and removed Taijul Islam for 17 to complete his three-wicket haul.
Despite the regular wickets, Rahim stayed composed and helped Bangladesh maintain control of the innings. He reached lunch unbeaten alongside Ebadot Hossain, who was yet to score.
Shanto and Mominul Lead Bangladesh on Opening Day
Bangladesh dominated the opening day after Pakistan chose to bowl first. The hosts ended Day 1 on 301-4 in 85 overs.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto played a brilliant knock of 101 from 130 balls. Mominul Haque also impressed with a steady 91 off 200 deliveries.
The two batters built a crucial 170-run partnership after Pakistan reduced Bangladesh to 31-2 early in the innings.

Pakistan Bowlers Struggle With Discipline
Pakistan bowlers managed to take wickets at important moments but struggled to maintain consistency throughout the innings.
Fast bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali picked up early wickets on Day 1. However, the bowling attack failed to keep pressure on Bangladesh for long periods.
Pakistan also conceded 31 extras, which added to Bangladesh’s strong total and hurt the visitors during crucial stages of the innings.
