Bangladesh Dominate Opening Day of First Test Against Pakistan

Bangladesh produced a strong batting display on the opening day of the first Test against Pakistan, putting the visitors under pressure after a solid recovery and disciplined middle-order performance.

Strong Start and Early Pakistan Breakthroughs

According to Beyond Time News, Pakistan captain Shan Masood opted to field first, and the decision initially paid off. Shaheen Shah Afridi struck early, removing Mahmudul Hasan Joy for 8 with only 18 runs on the board.

Hasan Ali then added pressure in his first over by dismissing Shadman Islam for 13, leaving Bangladesh struggling at 31/2 in the morning session.

Shanto and Mominul Turn the Game Around

Bangladesh recovered through a crucial partnership between captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque. The duo built a strong 170-run stand, stabilizing the innings and shifting momentum away from Pakistan.

By the first session, Bangladesh had reached 101/2, with Shanto unbeaten on 39 and Mominul on 31.

Shanto’s Century Anchors Bangladesh

Shanto continued his dominance after lunch and went on to score a commanding 101 off 130 balls, registering his fifth century as captain — the most by any Bangladesh skipper.

He was eventually dismissed late in the second session, with Bangladesh reaching 201/3 at tea, thanks to the strong partnership.

Pakistan Fight Back Late in the Day

In the final session, Pakistan found some resistance through spinner Noman Ali, who broke a key 75-run stand by dismissing Mominul Haque for 91, trapped lbw after a patient knock featuring 10 boundaries.

Despite the breakthrough, Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das ensured stability, guiding Bangladesh to a strong position by stumps.

Day One Stumps: Bangladesh in Control

At the close of play, Bangladesh reached 301/4 in 85 overs. Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten on 48, while Litton Das was 8 not out.

For Pakistan, Noman Ali was the only wicket-taker in the final session as Bangladesh ended the day firmly on top.

Bangladesh’s top-order resilience and captain Shanto’s century set the tone for a commanding opening day in the first Test against Pakistan.
