Bangladesh Recover to 101-2 at Lunch After Early Strikes in First Test Against Pakistan

Bangladesh reached 101 for 2 at lunch on the opening day of the first Test against Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday after recovering from an early collapse.

Pakistan made a strong start with Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali striking early, reducing Bangladesh to 31 for 2 and putting the hosts under pressure.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque then stabilised the innings with a composed partnership, guiding Bangladesh to 101 without further loss at the lunch break.

Pakistan handed Test debuts to Abdullah Fazal and Azan Awais, while Babar Azam missed out due to a knee injury.

The second Test of the series will be played from May 16 to 20 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium as part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle.

Pakistan currently sit fifth in the WTC standings, while Bangladesh are eighth.
