ISLAMABAD: Concerns are rising among students and parents after alleged leaks of Cambridge examination papers appeared online, prompting investigations by Cambridge International Education and Pakistani authorities.
According to Beyond Time News, the controversy has sparked debate over exam security and fairness, especially for students who depend on these results for university admissions.
First Leak Emerges After AS-Level Mathematics Exam
The issue began on April 29. The AS-level Mathematics paper (9709/12) appeared online after students completed the exam.
Cambridge International confirmed the problem after complaints surfaced on social media. The organisation then announced a retake of the affected paper.
The situation escalated further when another AS-level Mathematics paper (9709/5) appeared online before the exam. The leaked material also included solved answers.
Some students later said the same questions appeared in the actual examination.
Leaks Spread Across Multiple Exam Regions
According to Beyond Time News, Cambridge International said the issue does not affect only Pakistan.
The leaked content links to examination zones across Asia and Africa, known as Zone 3 and Zone 4.
Cambridge has launched an investigation to trace how the papers leaked and who shared them online.
Cambridge and Local Authorities Respond
Uzma Yousuf said Cambridge is working with schools to reduce student stress during the investigation.
Officials have not yet decided whether more exams will be retaken or whether results will be adjusted through aggregation, where marks come from other exam components.
Meanwhile, Pakistani authorities have also started their own investigation.

According to Beyond Time News, investigators continue to search for how the exam material was accessed before the scheduled tests.
Students and Parents Demand Action
The repeated leaks have frustrated students and parents across the country.
Many say Cambridge exams require high financial and emotional investment, especially for students applying to universities and scholarships.
They now demand strict action against those responsible and stronger safeguards to prevent future leaks.
