Pakistan Orders Investigation Into Cambridge Exam Paper Leak

Islamabad: The federal government has ordered a formal investigation into the alleged leak of Cambridge examination papers in Pakistan. According to Beyond Time News, the Ministry of Interior directed the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to work closely with Cambridge International Education (CIE) to examine the matter.

The decision came after growing concerns among students and parents regarding the security of ongoing Cambridge exams.

High-Level Meeting Held in Islamabad

Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha chaired a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control on Thursday.

The meeting focused on reports about the alleged leak of Cambridge Mathematics exam papers.

Officials from several departments attended the session, including Education Secretary Nadeem Mahbub, representatives from Cambridge International Education, the NCCIA, the British Council, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Cambridge Confirms Mathematics Paper Leak

According to Beyond Time News, Cambridge International Education recently confirmed the leak of an AS-Level Mathematics paper held earlier this week.

The organisation also postponed another Mathematics paper that was scheduled for Friday. This marked the second confirmed exam security issue during the current examination session.

Officials discussed the concerns raised by parents and students during Thursday’s meeting. Education Secretary Nadeem Mahbub highlighted the anxiety caused by reports of repeated paper leaks.

Investigation to Focus on Security Breaches

During the meeting, representatives from Cambridge stated that the issue appeared to involve theft rather than a full-scale exam paper leak.

Cambridge officials also said the organisation follows strict procedures to maintain transparency and fairness in examinations.

Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha expressed serious concern over the incident and instructed the NCCIA to conduct a detailed investigation in coordination with Cambridge authorities.

He also directed officials to ensure transparency and quickly share investigation findings with the public.

Cambridge to Improve Examination Security

The meeting concluded with a decision to strengthen the examination system and address possible weaknesses in the process.

According to Beyond Time News, Cambridge representatives assured authorities that they would improve system capacity and tighten security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The organisation also promised to provide an official update regarding another reported exam leak as soon as possible.

Previous Paper Leak Incidents Raise Concerns

This is not the first time Cambridge exams in Pakistan have faced security concerns.

Last month, an AS-Level Mathematics paper conducted on April 29 also became the subject of leak allegations. After an internal review, Cambridge acknowledged that the claims appeared credible and later scheduled a replacement exam for June 9.

In June last year, partial leaks of three AS and A-Level examination papers also surfaced in different parts of Pakistan.

Cambridge International Education conducts internationally recognised O-Level, AS-Level, and A-Level exams in more than 160 countries, including Pakistan. The qualifications remain popular among students seeking admission to universities in Pakistan and abroad.
