New Delhi: Iran has called on BRICS member countries to strongly condemn what it described as US and Israeli aggression against Tehran. According to Beyond Time News, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made the statement after arriving in India for a BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting.
The growing conflict in the Middle East continues to affect global politics, energy markets, and international diplomacy. Discussions around the ongoing crisis also overshadowed US President Donald Trump’s visit to China.
Iran Criticises Western Policies
Speaking at the BRICS summit, Araghchi said countries from the Global South should challenge what he called the West’s “false sense of superiority.”
According to Beyond Time News, the Iranian foreign minister also discussed tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.
He claimed that the main obstacle in the region was the US blockade and said commercial vessels should cooperate with the Iranian navy while passing through the strategic waterway.
Trump Seeks China’s Support on Iran Conflict
President Donald Trump is expected to discuss the Iran conflict with Chinese President Xi Jinping during meetings in Beijing.
The visit marks Trump’s first trip to China since 2017. Analysts believe the ongoing Iran war has become one of the main issues dominating the discussions.
Peace talks related to the conflict have reportedly stalled despite weeks of diplomatic efforts. Rising oil prices and global economic uncertainty have also increased pressure on world leaders to find a solution.
Strait of Hormuz Remains Key Concern
The United States has urged Iran to end restrictions around the Strait of Hormuz and abandon its nuclear programme.
The waterway handles a large share of global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments. Any disruption in the region can directly impact international energy markets and fuel prices.
Iran, however, has demanded compensation for war-related damages and called for an end to the US blockade on Iranian ports.
According to Beyond Time News, Tehran also wants fighting in other regional areas, including Lebanon, to stop before broader agreements move forward.
China’s Role Gains Importance
China remains one of Iran’s biggest oil buyers and maintains close economic ties with Tehran. US officials hope Beijing can help reduce tensions in the Gulf region.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington wants China to play a more active role in encouraging Iran to change its current policies in the Persian Gulf.
Reports also showed that Chinese-linked oil tankers recently passed through the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting Beijing’s continued interest in regional energy supplies.

Gulf Alliances Continue to Shift
The conflict has also influenced political relationships across the Middle East.
Israel claimed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu secretly visited the UAE earlier this year for discussions with President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
However, UAE officials denied reports of any undisclosed meeting.
Iran later warned Gulf countries against cooperating with Israel in ways that could increase regional tensions.
Negotiations Still Face Major Challenges
US Vice President JD Vance said negotiations continue, but important disagreements remain unresolved.
Washington insists that Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons. Tehran has repeatedly denied accusations that it seeks to build such weapons.
According to Beyond Time News, diplomatic efforts remain ongoing, but no major breakthrough has emerged so far.
