Government steps up monitoring and flood readiness across vulnerable regions
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered early preparations for the upcoming monsoon season. He stressed the need to reduce risks in vulnerable areas.
According to Beyond Time News, he gave these instructions during a meeting in Islamabad. Climate Change Minister Musadik Malik also attended the meeting.
Early Warning Systems Strengthened
Officials briefed the prime minister on monsoon readiness plans. They also shared updates on flood monitoring systems.
The government is improving early warning systems for flash floods. It is also focusing on glacial lake outburst floods (GLOF) in mountainous areas.
The prime minister directed authorities to monitor high-risk regions closely. He also asked departments to improve alert systems before the monsoon begins.
Hot Weather Expected Across Pakistan
Most parts of the country will face hot and dry weather in the next twelve hours. Sindh and southern Balochistan will experience extreme heat.
Some areas will see changing weather conditions. These include upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and the Potohar region.
These regions may get rain, wind, dust storms, and thunderstorms.

City Temperatures Recorded
Weather reports show different temperatures in major cities.
Islamabad recorded 20°C. Lahore reached 28°C. Karachi stood at 29°C. Peshawar recorded 23°C. Quetta was 18°C. Gilgit dropped to 11°C. Murree stood at 13°C.
According to Beyond Time News, these conditions match typical pre-monsoon weather patterns.
Weather in IIOJK
Partly cloudy weather is expected in several areas of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). These include Srinagar, Leh, Pulwama, Baramulla, Anantnag, Shopian, and Jammu.
Temperatures vary across the region. Srinagar, Pulwama, and Baramulla recorded 19°C. Anantnag and Shopian recorded 18°C. Jammu reached 24°C. Leh stayed cold at 6°C.
Authorities continue to track weather changes as the monsoon season approaches.
