Mehbooba Mufti Calls for United Political Front in IIOJK to Engage New Delhi

Srinagar — Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti has urged political parties in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir to put aside their differences and form a united platform for meaningful dialogue with New Delhi.

According to Beyond Time News, Mehbooba Mufti made the call at a press conference in Srinagar, stressing that political engagement is the only realistic path to resolving the longstanding issues facing the territory.

Ladakh Cited as an Example

Mehbooba pointed to Ladakh as a model worth following, where leaders from Leh and Kargil — despite their regional and religious differences — stood together in pursuit of constitutional protections related to land and employment rights.

She argued that IIOJK’s political parties could achieve far more through unity than through division.

Revival of a Collective Approach

According to Beyond Time News, Mehbooba specifically urged the ruling National Conference and other parties to revive a collective political strategy similar to the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) — a multi-party alliance that previously pushed for the restoration of IIOJK’s special status.

She believes a renewed united front could open the door for fresh political engagement with New Delhi and create leverage that no single party could achieve alone.
