Srinagar MC employees stage protest over unpaid salaries

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, employees of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation staged a massive protest, demanding immediate release of pending salaries and regularisation of daily wagers.

According to Beyond the Time News, the protesting employees said they have not been paid their wages for months, pushing them into severe financial distress. Raising slogans, they said the authorities ignored repeated appeals despite assurances given in the past.

Daily wage workers participating in the protest demanded a clear policy for their regularisation, saying uncertainty over their future has left thousands of families struggling to meet basic needs. They said delay in salaries has affected their ability to pay rent, school fees and household expenses.

The protesters said municipal employees form the backbone of civic services in Srinagar but continue to be treated unfairly. “We keep the city running, yet our own livelihoods are neglected,” several employees said.

They warned that if their demands are not addressed immediately, the protest would be intensified in the coming days.
