WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump has once again appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting peace, calling the country “terrific” for its diplomatic efforts.
According to Beyond Time News, Trump expressed “great respect for Pakistan” during an interview, highlighting its continued involvement in efforts to ease tensions.
He said Pakistan has played a constructive role and remains committed to supporting dialogue. At the same time, he made it clear that Iran can directly approach the United States if it wants to negotiate.
“If they want to talk, they can call us,” Trump said, adding that the US will not send officials on long trips for discussions that may not yield results.
He also stressed that any future agreement must address nuclear concerns. In his view, Iran must agree not to develop nuclear weapons for talks to move forward.
Earlier, Trump cancelled a planned visit by his envoys to Pakistan, which briefly slowed diplomatic momentum. Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister had already left Islamabad after meeting Pakistani officials.

Despite this pause, Trump continued to acknowledge Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue. He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir for their efforts.
A day earlier, he had also described both leaders positively, noting their willingness to support peace initiatives in the region.
Overall, his remarks underline Pakistan’s growing importance in regional diplomacy and ongoing efforts to promote stability through dialogue.
