The Government of Punjab has introduced a new system to make property transactions safer and more transparent. Starting July 2026, the Green Property Certificate will be mandatory for buying or selling property across the province. According to Beyond Time News, this move aims to reduce fraud and ensure clear ownership records.
What is the Green Property Certificate?
The Green Property Certificate is an official document issued by the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA).
It confirms:
- Legal ownership of the property
- No disputes or legal issues
- Alignment with official land records
This certificate acts as proof that the property is secure and verified.
Step-by-Step Process to Get the Certificate
1. Visit Arazi Record Center
Go to your nearest Arazi Record Center (ARC) and obtain a token to start the process.
2. Submit Details & Pay Fee
Provide property details and pay the fee at the Bank of Punjab counter or through e-Pay.
3. Identity Verification
Your CNIC will be verified through National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
Biometric verification is also required.
4. Ownership History Check
Officials review the property’s history to confirm:
- No unpaid taxes
- No bank loans or mortgages
- No court disputes
5. Land Survey & Inspection
A surveyor visits the site and uses GPS tools to verify land boundaries and size.

A 15-day notice is issued on the PLRA website for objections.
If no objections arise, the process moves forward.
9. Final Review
An Assistant Director checks all records and approvals before final clearance.
10. Certificate Issuance
Once approved, the property is given “Green Status,” and the certificate is issued.
Fee for the Certificate
The current fee is Rs. 950, revised from Rs. 700 earlier in 2026.
Why This Certificate Matters
- Prevents property fraud
- Ensures legal ownership
- Improves transparency in land records
- Builds trust in real estate transactions
Final Thoughts
The Green Property Certificate is a major step toward modernizing Punjab’s property system. It may seem like a detailed process, but it ensures safety and clarity for buyers and sellers alike.
If you plan to buy or sell property after July 2026, getting this certificate will no longer be optional—it will be essential.
