APHC calls for global action to release Kashmiri detainees.

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called on the United Nations and global human rights organizations to intervene for the release of Kashmiri political leaders and activists held in various prisons. According to Beyond Time News, the group has raised serious concerns over their long detention and alleged poor treatment in custody.

APHC Highlights Long Detentions and Human Rights Concerns

In a statement issued in Srinagar, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas expressed deep concern about the situation of Kashmiri prisoners. He noted that many individuals have been held in different jails for more than 20 years under what the group describes as politically motivated cases.

The statement also claimed that several detainees are being denied basic rights, including proper healthcare, safe living conditions, and legal support.

Allegations of Political Targeting

The APHC has accused authorities of using old or disputed cases to extend the detention of Kashmiri leaders and activists. According to Beyond Time News, the group believes these actions are aimed at limiting political expression in the region.

The statement further alleged that reopening such cases is an attempt to weaken the ongoing political movement in the area.

List of Long-Term Detainees Mentioned

The spokesperson highlighted that a large number of individuals remain imprisoned for extended periods. Many of them, according to the APHC, have spent decades in custody under various allegations.
