Babar Azam Set to Strengthen Pakistan in Crucial Bangladesh Test

Pakistan eye series-leveling win in Sylhet

Sylhet: Pakistan received a huge boost ahead of the second and final Test against Bangladesh as star batter Babar Azam recovered from injury and rejoined the squad for the must-win clash.

According to Beyond Time News, Pakistan head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed confirmed on Friday that Babar is fully available for selection ahead of the Test match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan lost the opening Test by 104 runs and now trail 1-0 in the two-match series. The visitors now need a victory in Sylhet to avoid a series defeat.

Sarfaraz admitted the team felt disappointed after the first Test. However, he said the players have shifted their focus toward making a strong comeback.

“We are disappointed after the first Test, but the past is the past,” Sarfaraz told reporters. “We are hopeful and confident that the team will bounce back.”

Babar Azam’s return strengthens Pakistan batting

Babar Azam missed the opening Test because of a knee injury. Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled during the run chase without their experienced batter.

His return now gives Pakistan extra confidence before the crucial series decider. Cricket experts believe Babar’s presence will improve the middle order and add stability to the batting unit.

The former Pakistan captain remains one of the team’s most reliable performers across all formats. Fans also expect him to play a key role under pressure conditions in Sylhet.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh are dealing with injury concerns of their own.

Opener Shadman Islam will miss the second Test after suffering a chest injury during the first match. Another opener, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, is also under fitness observation ahead of the game.

Bangladesh may hand a Test debut to Tanzid Hasan Tamim as a replacement.

Weather could play important role

Rain forecasts continue to create uncertainty before the match. However, Sarfaraz said the team remains ready for all conditions.

“The weather is not in our hands,” he said. “If we get the opportunity to play cricket, we will try our best to play good cricket.”

Veteran Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim also highlighted the weather challenge before the game.

“I think the weather is a bigger challenge than the wicket,” Mushfiqur said while discussing possible moisture on the pitch.

Despite Babar’s return, Mushfiqur expressed confidence in Bangladesh’s chances. He pointed out that Bangladesh had previously defeated Pakistan even when Babar played in the side.

The second Test now promises an intense battle between both teams. Bangladesh want to secure a memorable home series win, while Pakistan hope to save the series with a strong response.
