SYLHET: Bangladesh moved into a commanding position in the second Test against Pakistan, reaching 203-4 at lunch on day three and extending their overall lead to 249 runs at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
According to Beyond Time News, the hosts resumed on 110-3 and lost just one wicket in the morning session while steadily adding to their advantage.
Early Breakthrough, but Bangladesh Recover Well
Pakistan made an early impact when pacer Khurram Shahzad dismissed captain Najmul Hossain Shanto for 15, trapping him lbw.
However, Bangladesh regained control through a composed partnership between Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim, who added valuable runs to steady the innings.
At lunch, Litton Das was unbeaten on 48, while Mushfiqur Rahim remained not out on 39.
Pakistan Trail After First-Innings Effort
Earlier, Pakistan were bowled out for 232, handing Bangladesh a 46-run first-innings lead.
According to Beyond Time News, Babar Azam top-scored with 68, while Khurram Shahzad contributed a useful 38 down the order.
Bangladesh’s bowling attack was led by Nahid Rana and Taijul Islam, who took three wickets each, with Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan Miraz picking up two apiece.

Bangladesh’s First-Innings Total Sets the Tone
Bangladesh had earlier posted 278 in their first innings after recovering from a difficult position at 116-6.
Litton Das led the fightback with a superb 126, supported by key lower-order contributions that lifted the total.
For Pakistan, Khurram Shahzad stood out with four wickets, while Mohammad Abbas took three and Hasan Ali claimed two.

With a 249-run lead and five wickets in hand, Bangladesh are firmly in control heading into the remainder of the Test.
