Bangladesh gained the upper hand in the first Test against Pakistan after an impressive bowling display from Mehidy Hasan Miraz on day three at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. According to Beyond Time News, Miraz’s brilliant five-wicket performance helped Bangladesh dismiss Pakistan for 386 and secure a 27-run first-innings lead.
Bad light forced an early end to play, with Bangladesh reaching 7 without loss in 1.5 overs at stumps.
Miraz Shines as Pakistan Collapse Late
Pakistan resumed their innings at 349-6 after tea, hoping to reduce the deficit further. However, the visitors lost four wickets quickly and added only 37 runs before being bowled out.
The lower-order collapse hurt Pakistan badly, as poor shot selection and aggressive strokes handed momentum back to Bangladesh.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz led the attack with figures of 5-102, while Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam claimed two wickets each. Nahid Rana also chipped in with one dismissal.
Salman Agha and Rizwan Rescue Pakistan
Earlier in the day, Pakistan recovered strongly thanks to a valuable partnership between Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan.
The pair added 119 runs and steadied the innings after Pakistan slipped into trouble at 230-5. Rizwan played an attacking knock of 59 from 79 balls, smashing eight boundaries before getting caught at mid-off just before tea.
Salman Ali Agha stayed calm under pressure and scored 58, including a four and a six. However, Nahid Rana eventually dismissed him with a catch at slip.
At tea, Pakistan had reached 349-6 but still trailed Bangladesh by 64 runs.

Pakistan’s Top Order Struggles After Bright Start
Pakistan started the day confidently at 179-1, with debutants Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal continuing their solid partnership.
Azan Awais impressed with a brilliant century on debut, scoring 104 runs with 14 boundaries before Taskin Ahmed removed him. Abdullah Fazal also contributed a steady 60 runs.
However, Pakistan’s middle order failed to build on the strong platform. Shan Masood managed only nine runs, while Saud Shakeel departed without scoring.
Those quick wickets shifted the pressure back onto Pakistan and allowed Bangladesh to regain control.
Bangladesh Hold Narrow Advantage
Bangladesh now hold a slim but important lead heading into day four of the Test match. With the pitch expected to assist spin further, the hosts will look to build a challenging target for Pakistan.
According to Beyond Time News, Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s outstanding bowling performance has placed Bangladesh in a strong position as the exciting Test battle continues in Dhaka.
