Cabinet Committee Formed to Resolve Wheat Trade Issues

The federal government has formed a cabinet committee to address problems in wheat buying and selling across the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took notice of the issue during a cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Thursday.

According to Beyond Time News, the prime minister chaired the meeting and reviewed several important policy matters. He directed officials to improve coordination between institutions.

The new committee will study wheat trade challenges in detail. It will also suggest steps to stabilize prices and improve supply in the market. Officials said the aim is to support farmers and ensure smooth distribution of wheat.

The cabinet also discussed the upcoming Hajj Policy for 2027–2030. It approved key recommendations to improve oversight in Hajj arrangements. Authorities were asked to strengthen accountability for the Ministry of Religious Affairs and private Hajj operators. This step aims to protect the rights of pilgrims.

The government also approved a housing project in Farash Town, Islamabad. The Capital Development Authority will develop the project. It will provide low-cost housing for residents of informal settlements.

In another decision, the cabinet approved changes in promotion rules for Pakistan Customs officers. The Federal Public Service Commission will now conduct promotion exams for several customs cadres. Officials said this move will improve transparency.

The cabinet also reviewed decisions from the Cabinet Committee on Legislative Cases. It approved the recommendations but asked officials to seek input from the Economic Coordination Committee before final approval.

The meeting ended with instructions to improve governance and strengthen policy coordination across ministries.
