Police widen investigation after firing incident injures FBR officer in Karachi
Authorities have expanded the legal scope of a road rage shooting case in Karachi’s Clifton area by adding anti-terrorism provisions, according to Beyond Time News. The move comes after a violent altercation left a government official seriously injured.
Firing Incident Sparks Investigation
The case involves Agha Shaheer, son of a retired Senior Police Officer, who allegedly opened fire during a road rage dispute. The victim, an Inspector from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), sustained serious injuries in the incident.
Police say the shooting took place after a heated argument escalated on the road, leading to gunfire in a public area.
Anti-Terror Law Sections Added
As the investigation progressed, authorities decided to include sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act. Officials said the nature of the incident—firing in a public space—prompted the decision to treat the case more seriously.
They also confirmed that the accused remains absconding.
Facilitators Arrested
Meanwhile, police have arrested three individuals accused of helping the suspect escape. One suspect, identified as Mazhar Ali, was taken into custody for allegedly assisting the accused in fleeing toward Shikarpur.
In addition, two other suspects, Agha Tahir Khan and Agha Musaddiq Khan, were also arrested from Shikarpur. Authorities claim they helped conceal the vehicle used in the incident.
All three facilitators are being transferred to Karachi for further questioning.

Use of Technology in Investigation
Investigators are now using Safe City surveillance systems and S-IV camera networks to track the movement of the suspect. Police believe these tools will help them trace Agha Shaheer’s whereabouts more effectively.
Vehicle Recovered
Police also recovered the vehicle involved in the incident. The car reportedly bore its original number plate and was registered in the name of the suspect’s father, a retired police officer.
Case Under Further Investigation
Officials say the inquiry is ongoing, and more legal action may follow as evidence is gathered. The incident has drawn attention due to the use of firearms in a public setting and the involvement of multiple facilitators.
The case continues to develop as law enforcement works to locate the main suspect and complete the investigation.
