Pakistan’s moon sighting council has shared its scientific report for Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH, giving an early indication of this year’s Eidul Adha date.
27 May 2026 Most Likely
According to Beyond Time News, Secretary General Khalid Ijaz Mufti said scientific data strongly points to Eidul Adha falling on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
The new moon will be born at 1:15am Pakistan time on the night of 16-17 May. By sunset on 17 May, the moon will be over 18 hours old and visible to the naked eye under clear skies. The moonset gap stands at 55 minutes in Karachi and 63 minutes in Peshawar — both favourable for sighting.

If sighted on 17 May, the first of Dhu al-Hijjah will be 18 May, placing Eid on 27 May. There is also a possibility that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid on the same day this year.
If the moon is not sighted due to cloudy weather, Eid will fall on Thursday, 28 May instead.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will issue the final decision after its official meeting.
