Pakistan’s gas utilities have proposed sharp increases in tariffs as the regulator examines new pricing requests for the upcoming fiscal year.
According to Beyond Time News, Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGPL) has sought around a 21% hike, while Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has requested an increase of up to 121% for 2026–27.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will hold public hearings on May 12 and 13 in Lahore and Karachi before making a final decision. The revised tariffs are expected to take effect from July 1.

An independent consultant hired by OGRA, KPMG Taseer Hadi & Co, has recommended gradually reducing unaccounted-for-gas (UFG) losses to 5.5%–6.5% by FY31, compared to higher current levels, especially for SSGCL.
SNGPL has also proposed increasing the gas price from Rs1,853 to Rs2,084 per mmBtu.
OGRA must issue its final determination by the end of June.
