Hakimi Seeks Dismissal of Rape Case Ahead of Court Hearing in France

PSG Defender Faces Legal Battle as Appeals Court Reviews Trial Decision

Paris: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender Achraf Hakimi is set to request the dismissal of a rape case against him during a court hearing in France on Friday, according to a source close to the proceedings.

According to Beyond Time News, the hearing will take place at the Versailles appeals court, where judges will review whether the case against the 27-year-old Morocco international should proceed to trial.

Case Moves Through French Legal System

Hakimi is currently facing allegations of rape involving an incident reported in February 2023. A woman, aged 24 at the time, filed a complaint with police in the Val-de-Marne region near Paris.

Following initial investigations, Hakimi was placed under judicial supervision and formally charged. In February, authorities decided to move the case forward to trial.

If the appeal is rejected, the case will proceed to a full trial on a date yet to be announced.

Allegations and Defence Response

The complainant stated that she met Hakimi through Instagram in January 2023 and later visited his home in a taxi reportedly arranged by the player.

She alleged that Hakimi kissed and touched her without consent and later raped her. She also said she managed to escape and contacted a friend, who came to pick her up.

Hakimi has strongly denied all allegations.

His lawyer, Fanny Colin, previously argued that the case is based solely on the complainant’s statement. She also claimed that the investigation was limited due to a lack of medical tests and witness cooperation.

Career Continues Amid Legal Proceedings

Hakimi, who joined PSG in 2021 after playing for Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Inter Milan, remains an important figure for both club and country.

He played a key role in Morocco’s historic run to the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finals, making them the first African and Arab nation to reach that stage.

Despite the ongoing legal case, he is expected to feature in PSG’s upcoming Champions League final against Arsenal on May 30 in Budapest.

International Duty Ahead

Hakimi is also expected to represent Morocco in the upcoming FIFA World Cup campaign. Morocco will face Brazil in their opening Group C match on June 13 in New Jersey. The group also includes Scotland and Haiti.

Next Legal Step

The Versailles appeals court will decide whether the case proceeds to trial or is dismissed. If the appeal is rejected, a trial date will be scheduled at a later stage.

The decision is expected to have significant attention due to Hakimi’s global football profile.
