How Many Holidays Will Pakistanis Get on Eid ul Adha 2026?

Eid al-Adha is expected to be celebrated across Pakistan on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, and citizens may enjoy a long five-to-six-day holiday break.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee officially confirmed the sighting of the Zilhaj moon, clearing the way for Eid celebrations nationwide.

Expected Eid Holidays

According to the government calendar, official Eid holidays are likely to run from May 27 to May 29 (Wednesday to Friday). Since Saturday and Sunday follow immediately after, the public will automatically receive a five-day break.

Reports also suggest the federal government may announce an additional holiday on Tuesday, May 26, to help citizens travel to their hometowns before Eid. If approved, the total holiday period would extend to six days.

Travel Rush Begins

Following the moon sighting announcement, many people have already started preparing for Eid travel. Major cities are expected to witness heavy traffic as families head to their native towns and villages for the celebrations.

Authorities may grant the extra holiday to reduce travel pressure and ensure smoother movement across the country.
