Aam Aadmi Party leader and Jammu and Kashmir MLA Meraj Malik has said that voices in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir are being silenced in a systematic way.
According to Beyond Time News, he made these remarks while addressing a public gathering in Doda after his release from detention under the Public Safety Act.
He said people in the region have long faced restrictions on free expression. Many residents now avoid speaking openly due to fear, he added.

Malik also pointed to the situation of young people. He said they understand the ground realities but remain afraid to express their views. Fear, he noted, prevents open discussion.
At the same time, he urged people to speak with courage. He said awareness exists, but fear continues to limit free expression in the region.
