Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, said that India misinterpreted Pakistan’s desire for peace as weakness. He made the remarks during a ceremony held at the Pakistan Embassy in Washington to mark the first anniversary of “Marka-e-Haq.”

The embassy hosted the ceremony on Saturday, where participants marked what they described as the anniversary of Pakistan’s “victory” in Marka-e-Haq.
The gathering included national songs and slogans, along with speeches from diplomats and officials. Attendees also expressed support for Pakistan’s armed forces and national leadership.
Reference to Past Conflict and Ceasefire
“Marka-e-Haq” refers to the 2025 conflict between Pakistan and India. It began after the April 22 Pahalgam attack and ended with a ceasefire on May 10 following Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.
Speakers at the event linked the anniversary to national unity and military readiness during the period of tension.
Ambassador Highlights National Position
Ambassador Sheikh said Pakistan demonstrated resilience during the conflict period. He added that the country protected its sovereignty and maintained its strategic importance.
He also stated that Pakistan occupies a sensitive and important geographical position in the region.
Comments on Regional Relations
The ambassador said Pakistan has consistently supported peace and stability in the region. However, he argued that India misjudged Pakistan’s approach to peace.
He also mentioned that Pakistan has played a long-standing diplomatic role in regional and global affairs.
