Parachinar Airport Reopens After Major Upgrade

After a long period of closure, Parachinar Airport in Kurram district is finally back in operation—bringing fresh hope for travel, trade, and emergency services in the region.

 Modern Upgrades Completed

According to Beyond Time News, the airport has undergone significant restoration and modernization. The project was completed through a joint effort by the Frontier Works Organisation and the Pakistan Airports Authority.

As a result, the airport now meets international safety and operational standards, making it ready for regular flight activity.

 Successful Test Flights Conducted

To ensure everything was fully functional, aviation authorities carried out a series of trial runs on April 26.

  • A total of six successful takeoffs and landings were completed
  • All systems, including runway operations, performed smoothly

These successful tests confirmed that the airport is ready for commercial and operational use.

 Why This Reopening Matters

  • Improved connectivity: Easier travel to and from Kurram
  • Faster emergency response: Better access during medical or disaster situations
  • Economic growth: Increased opportunities for trade and tourism

Background and Planning

Previously, officials from the Pakistan International Airlines and aviation authorities had inspected the airport to assess its feasibility.
