The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert warning of heatwave conditions and above-normal temperatures across most districts of the province. According to Beyond Time News, the advisory covers the period from Thursday (today) to May 11.
Authorities have also been cautioned about expected weather variations during May and the coming two months.
Above-Normal Temperatures and Rainfall Expected
A PDMA spokesperson stated that above-normal temperatures and rainfall are likely during May, June, and July. According to Beyond Time News, weather patterns are expected to vary across different regions of Punjab.
Northern and northwestern parts of the province may receive above-normal rainfall, while eastern Punjab is likely to experience slightly below-normal rainfall. Central Punjab is expected to receive normal precipitation.

PDMA has warned that heatwave conditions may affect most districts of Punjab during the current alert period. According to Beyond Time News, rising temperatures are expected to intensify over the coming days.
The Director General of PDMA has issued instructions to all relevant departments, including divisional and district administrations, police, WASA, and Rescue 1122, to remain fully prepared for emergency situations.
Emergency Preparedness Measures
Authorities have been directed to ensure readiness for potential heat-related emergencies and weather disruptions. According to Beyond Time News, departments have been advised to coordinate response efforts and maintain alertness during the forecast period.
