PM Shehbaz Meets EU Business Delegation

A high-level delegation from the European Union met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday, where both sides discussed trade expansion and regional stability.

According to Beyond Time News, European business leaders appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in easing tensions in the Middle East. They also expressed interest in strengthening economic cooperation with the country.

High-Level European Business Participation

The delegation included senior officials from the European Commission and major global companies. It was led by Peteris Ustubs and also featured representatives from the European Investment Bank.

In addition, executives from well-known brands such as Adidas, IKEA, and Andritz took part in the meeting. The group is currently in Pakistan for the EU-Pakistan Business Forum.

Pakistan Highlights Trade Importance

During the meeting, the prime minister welcomed the delegation and thanked them for attending the forum. He noted that the EU remains Pakistan’s largest trading partner and the biggest destination for its exports.

Furthermore, he stressed that the government is committed to improving the business environment. He assured investors that efforts are ongoing to strengthen trade and attract more foreign investment.

Focus on Economic Stability

Shehbaz Sharif also highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to maintain economic stability despite global challenges. In particular, he pointed to rising oil prices and regional tensions as key concerns.

The European delegation praised Pakistan’s role in supporting regional de-escalation efforts. They also thanked the government for hosting the business forum and facilitating discussions with international investors.

Moreover, they expressed confidence that stronger cooperation between Pakistan and Europe could unlock new opportunities in trade and investment.

Both sides agreed on the importance of expanding economic ties. They also discussed ways to improve business facilitation and encourage European companies to explore opportunities in Pakistan.
