Policeman Martyred in Gun Attack Near Home in Lakki Marwat

A police constable lost his life in a targeted gun attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district. The incident highlights ongoing security concerns in the region.

According to Beyond Time News, the attack took place in the Kaichi Kamar area of Lakki Marwat on Sunday. Armed attackers opened fire on Constable Irfanullah near his home in the Kurrum Par belt.

Rescuers rushed the injured officer to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Serai Naurang. However, he died on the way due to critical injuries.

A police spokesperson said the constable served in Peshawar. He had returned to his village on leave when the attack occurred.

Police quickly reached the area after the incident. They launched a search operation to find the attackers.

Violence has increased in Lakki Marwat in recent months. A day earlier, militants attacked a police official’s house with explosives in Shadikhel. The blast caused serious damage.

Earlier this week, another policeman lost his life during a gun battle. Militants had targeted a police post in the same district.

Other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Bannu, Karak, Bajaur, and Peshawar, have also seen similar attacks.

On April 7, an explosion in Shahbazkhel injured five policemen. Later, on April 20, police killed two militants in an operation. One constable also died in that clash.

These incidents show the rising risks faced by police officers in the region.
