Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has moved back into profit after more than four years, marking a major turnaround for the telecom group. The recovery comes after the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan and stronger performance across its key business segments.
According to Beyond Time News, the company also announced plans to launch 5G services in Pakistan next month, signaling a new phase of digital expansion.
Strong Financial Recovery in First Quarter
PTCL Group reported a net profit of Rs3.1 billion for the first quarter of 2026. This is a major improvement compared to a loss of Rs4 billion recorded in the same period last year.
The group’s revenue also surged by 58% between January and March 2026, supported by better performance in broadband, enterprise, wholesale, and mobile services.
Operating profit rose sharply as well, increasing by 564% during the quarter after the inclusion of Telenor Pakistan’s results.
Merger and Expansion Drive Growth
PTCL officials said the consolidation of Telenor Pakistan has played a key role in the company’s financial recovery. The merger with Ufone is also in its final stages and awaits remaining legal approvals.
Once completed, the combined network is expected to improve service quality and expand coverage for customers across Pakistan.
5G Services Set for Launch
The company confirmed that its subsidiary Ufone has received a commercial certificate to launch 5G services. The rollout is planned for May, marking an important step in Pakistan’s telecom development.
