The Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) has warned of strict action, including electricity disconnections, against major defaulters over unpaid bills.
According to ARY News, notices have been issued to all defaulters, including several federal and provincial departments, demanding immediate clearance of outstanding dues.
Total Outstanding Dues Reach Rs47 Billion
As of March, provincial departments collectively owe around Rs47 billion in unpaid electricity bills.
Major Defaulters Include:
- Public Health Engineering Department: Rs22.72 billion
- School Education Department: Rs9.40 billion
- Health Department: Rs4.16 billion
- Local Bodies: Rs3.35 billion
- Police & Prison Departments: Rs1.53 billion each
- Federal departments: Rs3.12 billion combined
Other defaulters include:
- University of Balochistan: Rs55 million
- Provincial Election Commission: Rs18 million
Strict Action Planned
QESCO has stated that indiscriminate action will be taken against all defaulters, with disconnection operations set to begin soon.
