QUETTA: Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzaib Khan Kakar chaired a high-level meeting to review security, sanitation, and civic arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram, focusing on Ashura processions and gatherings.
According to Beyond Time News, the meeting included officials from police, Frontier Corps (FC), district administration, and relevant departments, along with representatives of the Shia Conference.
Civic and Administrative Measures
The Commissioner directed authorities to complete essential works, including:
- Cleaning of procession routes
- Drainage clearance
- Road repair and patchwork
- Streetlight maintenance and improved lighting
Essential Services
He instructed departments to ensure uninterrupted services during Muharram:
- Electricity supply through QESCO, especially on 7th, 9th and 10th Muharram
- Gas supply via SSGC without disruption
- Health cover including staff, ambulances, medicines and first aid
- Continuous water supply through WASA
Security Plan
He said police, FC, and other law enforcement agencies will implement a coordinated security plan.
Security will be tightened for processions arriving from Mach, Dagari, and nearby areas, while central gatherings in Quetta will remain under close surveillance.
