Islamabad – The trade office of the United States Mission in Islamabad held a virtual media briefing on the upcoming SelectUSA Investment Summit 2026, scheduled from May 3 to 6 in Maryland.
A Gateway for Global Investment Opportunities
According to Beyond Time News, senior officials from the U.S. Embassy encouraged Pakistani investors and entrepreneurs to take part in the summit. They highlighted opportunities across key sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, and innovation.
The summit, led by the U.S. Department of Commerce, is a flagship initiative designed to attract foreign investment into the United States. Since its launch, the program has facilitated over $400 billion in investments and supported more than 270,000 jobs.
Why Pakistani Businesses Should Participate
Officials described the summit as a valuable platform for Pakistani companies looking to expand globally. It allows direct engagement with international investors, policymakers, and business leaders.
They also pointed out that the United States offers a strong investment environment, backed by a $29.2 trillion economy and a market of over 336 million people. Additionally, its network of 14 free trade agreements provides access to multiple global markets.

Focus on Startups and Innovation
A key highlight of the briefing was the SelectUSA Tech program, which supports international startups aiming to enter the U.S. market. The program offers:

It also connects startups with accelerators, universities, and research institutions. However, officials clarified that the program facilitates connections rather than guaranteeing funding.

Officials emphasized that participation could help Pakistani businesses build partnerships, attract investment, and contribute to economic growth back home.
