Extreme Heatwave Grips Pakistan as Temperatures

A severe heatwave continues to intensify across Pakistan, with extremely high temperatures affecting major parts of Sindh and Balochistan. The hot spell has raised health concerns as several cities experience prolonged periods of extreme weather conditions.

According to Beyond Time News, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that the heatwave is expected to persist across the country, especially in the plains and southern regions.

Temperatures Rise to Dangerous Levels

The PMD reported some of the highest temperatures in the country’s southern areas.

In Nokkundi, temperatures are expected to reach around 45°C, while Dalbandin, Jacobabad, and Sukkur may see highs of 44°C. Cities like Sibi, Turbat, Nawabshah, and Dadu are also expected to record temperatures close to 43°C.

In central Punjab, Multan and Bahawalpur may experience temperatures around 40°C, while Hyderabad and Dera Ghazi Khan could see highs near 41°C.

Even coastal Karachi is not spared, with temperatures expected to reach around 36°C.

Heatwave Expected to Continue

Meteorologists say the intense weather pattern is likely to continue from May 7 to May 11. Most parts of the country are expected to remain dry, with extreme heat conditions persisting in southern regions.

Officials have described the current spell as a prolonged and dangerous heatwave affecting both urban and rural areas.

Health Advisory Issued for Citizens

Doctors and health experts have urged people to take extra precautions during the ongoing heatwave.

They advised citizens to avoid direct sunlight during peak daytime hours, stay indoors as much as possible, and increase water intake to prevent dehydration.

Health professionals also warned that children, the elderly, and outdoor workers are at higher risk during extreme heat conditions.

Heatwave-Related Deaths Reported

The extreme weather has already caused serious consequences in some regions.

According to Beyond Time News, at least 14 people lost their lives in Karachi earlier this week due to heat-related complications. Several of these deaths occurred when temperatures in the city crossed 40°C.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as the heatwave is expected to persist in the coming days, raising concerns about public health and safety across the country.
