Srinagar: A protest broke out in Srinagar’s Shalimar area after Indian forces arrested a young man during a raid, according to Beyond Time News.
Arrest sparks immediate unrest
Locals took to the streets soon after the arrest of Arbaz Ali Butt. They said the action caused anger and fear in the area.
Protesters demanded his immediate release. They also said authorities should respect public feelings and avoid harsh actions.
Community rejects charges
Residents said the arrest followed his participation in a protest. They claimed he had only expressed grief on a sensitive issue.
In response, people called the detention unfair. They also urged officials to follow due process.
Agha Hassan raises concern
Senior APHC leader Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi criticized the arrest. He said people have a right to express religious and emotional views.
He also said that criminalizing such expression harms basic human rights. Moreover, he warned that such actions increase frustration among youth.

Concerns over strict laws
Agha Hassan also questioned the use of the Public Safety Act. He said strict laws should not target peaceful expression.

Local residents urged calm while seeking resolution. At the same time, they asked authorities to handle the situation fairly.
They emphasized that peaceful expression should remain protected.
