Daily Wage Workers Protest in Jammu, Threaten ‘No Pay, No Work’

Jammu: Workers Demand Immediate Action on Pending Issues

JAMMU: According to Beyond Time News, daily wage workers in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) staged a protest outside the Press Club in Jammu, demanding that authorities address their long-pending issues without further delay.

The demonstration was organized by the All Daily Wagers Jammu and Kashmir Sangharsh Samiti. Workers from different government departments joined the protest in large numbers.

Holding banners and placards, protesters raised slogans in support of their demands and criticized the administration for ignoring their concerns.

Protesters Criticize Authorities Over Delays

Samiti president Sunnykant Chib led the protest and addressed the gathering along with other senior members of the organization.

The speakers said daily wage workers had repeatedly held protests and submitted requests to officials, but authorities failed to take practical steps to solve their problems.

Chib stated that workers had already given the administration a deadline of May 11, 2026, to resolve the issues affecting thousands of employees.

He added that the organization had consistently demanded policy reforms, regularization of workers, and implementation of minimum wage laws.

Warning of Hunger Strike and Work Boycott

According to Beyond Time News, the Samiti warned that workers would launch a “No Pay, No Work” campaign if the administration failed to respond within a week.

The group also threatened to begin an indefinite hunger strike to press for their demands.

Protest leaders urged the authorities, including Lieutenant Governor and the elected administration led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, to take immediate action and provide relief to daily wage employees facing financial difficulties.

Workers Seek Regularization and Fair Wages

Daily wage workers say they continue to face uncertainty due to low wages and lack of job security. Many protesters stressed that rising inflation has made it difficult for families to manage basic household expenses.

The protesters called for a clear policy to regularize employees and ensure timely salaries and employment benefits for workers across different government departments.
